NEW YORK (WABC) — New York City Emergency Management has issued a Weather Alert for Monday due to heavy downpours and thunderstorms expected in the forecast.<\/p>\n
GET THE LATEST ACCUWEATHER FORECAST<\/a><\/p>\n Periods of rain will arrive on Sunday night and evolve into windswept downpours on Monday, which could cause flooding. Also, embedded thunderstorms can be strong to severe, especially south and west of the city.<\/p>\n New Yorkers should allow extra travel time during periods of heavy rain, especially during the Monday evening commute.<\/p>\n Rain will gradually taper early Tuesday morning.
