He instantly joked about a Waymo hosting next year\u2019s ceremony in a tux. He took a swing at Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u2019s recent controversial remarks about opera and ballet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What else can we expect at this year\u2019s ceremony?<\/p>\n<p>No awards show is complete without a musical performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Miles Caton and Raphael Saadiq performed \u201cI Lied to You,\u201d the nominated original song from \u201cSinners.\u201d They were joined by a bevy of performers onstage \u2014\u00a0Misty Copeland,\u00a0Eric Gales, Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard, Christone \u201cKingfish\u201d Ingram, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, Bobby Rush,\u00a0Shaboozey\u00a0and Alice Smith among them \u2014 for a near-recreation of the scene in \u201cSinners\u201d where the song is introduced.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of the more memorable moments in the film, where a blues song in a Mississippi juke joint opens up to showcase hip-hop DJs, rock \u2018n\u2019 roll guitarists, ballerinas and more, illustrating the Black music genre\u2019s place at the foundation of American popular culture.<\/p>\n<p>When the live tribute performance to \u201cSinners\u201d wrapped on stage, there was a slew of applause, some of which came from people who stood for the ovation.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most highly expected reunions of the night will be the cast of \u201cBridesmaids.\u201d Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper and Maya Rudolph will come together to celebrate the film\u2019s 15-year anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>Did we get a \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada\u201d reunion? Sort of &#8230;\u00a0Anna Wintour and\u00a0Anne Hathaway teamed up to present the costume design and make and hairstyling Oscars.<\/p>\n<p>Billy Crystal opened the in memoriam segment honoring his best friend, Rob Reiner.<\/p>\n<p>He ticked off a list of Reiner\u2019s films, including \u201cWhen Harry Met Sally,\u201d starring Crystal and Meg Ryan, \u201cStand By Me,\u201d \u201cSay Anything\u201d and \u201cThis is Spinal Tap,\u201d among many others.<\/p>\n<p>A photo of Reiner and his wife, Michelle Singer Reiner, appeared behind Crystal.<\/p>\n<p>The Reiners were found dead in their Los Angeles home in December. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been charged in the deaths of his parents and has pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>Having a slew of actors with longstanding ties to Reiner \u2014 Meg Ryan, Kiefer Sutherland, Fred Savage, Demi Moore, John Cusack, Ione Skye and many others \u2014 come on stage for the tribute was reminiscent of how the Academy did the same for director John Hughes at the Oscars 16 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a list of all the nominees. Davis of \u201cSingers\u201d called his short a \u201csimple story about the power of music and art to bring us together in a moment when we live in an increasingly isolated world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yes, there was a tie and it&#8217;s not the first time this has happened at the Oscars.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The most recent tie came during the 2013 Oscars honoring films from 2012, when \u201cZero Dark Thirty\u201d and \u201cSkyfall\u201d tied for the sound editing category. There have been five other ties in Oscars history, making Sunday\u2019s tie the seventh.<\/p>\n<p>The first tie, which was at the 5th Academy Awards almost 100 years ago, was based on an old rule. Wallace Beery (\u201cThe Champ\u201d) and Fredric March (\u201cDr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde\u201d) tied for best actor. They came within exactly one vote of each other, and in accordance with Academy rules at the time, they shared the recognition. I want to thank my fellow nominees.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It has been another great year in filmmaking, and the only thing tighter than some of the Oscar races this year has been security for the 98th Academy Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The unusually heavy security has been ramped up amid the ongoing Middle East war and concerns about retaliatory strikes by Iran. There have been no specific threats against the Oscars on Sunday, and last week, Gov.
