{"id":65867,"date":"2025-07-14T21:22:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T21:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/65867\/"},"modified":"2025-07-14T21:22:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T21:22:09","slug":"smiles-linens-says-farewell-after-50-years-in-southwest-philly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/65867\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Smiles Linens&#8217; says farewell after 50 years in Southwest Philly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao MvWXB TjIXL aGjvy ebVHC \">PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) &#8212; Bruce Zeiger is retiring after 50 years of serving curtains, sheets, and smiles to Southwest Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Zeiger followed his father&#8217;s footsteps in the retail business and started working at a bridal shop on Woodland Avenue in the early 1970s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">By 1975, he opened &#8216;Smiles Linens,&#8217; borrowing the well-known &#8216;Smiles&#8217; moniker from his father as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Zeiger&#8217;s store reliably served curtains, drapes, towels, and sheets for a half century. They also provided a layaway service. And his penchant for customer service extended beyond the doors of the shop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">He served as president of the Woodland Avenue Business Association for over 20 years.
