\n\tFans of the Dune franchise are getting their first peak at Dune: Part Three<\/a>, with Warner Bros<\/a> and Legendary releasing the first trailer Tuesday. The film, which has a December 18, 2026 release date, sees Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a>, Zendaya<\/a>, Florence Pugh and Javier Bardem back, with Robert Pattinson<\/a> and Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a> among the new additions to the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Monday, character posters<\/a> were released showing the key players, including the above as well as Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa and newcomer Isaach de Bankol\u00e9.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer from the movie, which takes place 17 years after the events of Dune: Part Two<\/a>, opens with Zendaya\u2019s Chani asking Chalamet\u2019s Paul: \u201cIf we have a girl, what will we name her?\u201d If it\u2019s a boy, she says they should name him Leto (after Duke Leto Atreides, Paul\u2019s father) because then \u201che would have the wisdom of his grandfather.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThen, amid scenes of vicious battle, we see new castmember Pattinson\u2019s character of Scytale, with his platinum blonde buzz cut.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tPaul, also sporting a buzz cut now, runs to the top of a plinth, high above a massive, cheering crowd. Then we see him facing an opponent in the desert. \u201cI\u2019m not afraid to die,\u201d we hear him say in voice-over as he grips a dagger, \u201cbut I must not die yet.\u201d In the final clip, Chani steels herself and runs toward an invisible adversary.<\/p>\n

\n\tDune\u00a0is Legendary\u2019s expansive, multi-format science fiction universe based on Frank Herbert\u2019s Hugo Award-winning novel series. The collection has included two feature films, 2021\u2019s\u00a0Dune: Part One\u00a0and last year\u2019s\u00a0Dune:\u00a0Part Two, which earned a combined $1.12 billion at the global box office and won\u00a0eight\u00a0Oscars from 15 nominations, including Best Picture<\/a> noms for both.<\/p>\n

\n\tDenis Villeneuve<\/a> has directed all three pics, which he adapted with screenwriter Jon Spaihts (Eric Roth also co-wrote on the first installment).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe universe\u2019s most recent entry is prequel TV series\u00a0Dune: Prophecy, from\u00a0Lost\u00a0writer-producer Alison Schapker\u00a0and set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides.\u00a0The series premiered on\u00a0HBO and\u00a0Max in November.<\/p>\n
