Longtime Southtown hangout the Filling Station & Taproom will soon pour its last pint, according to a social media post from the business.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The owners of the neighborhood pub at 701 S. St. Mary\u2019s St. said it would keep it open until midnight for \u201cone more week,\u201d suggesting its final stretch of service will end March 21.\u00a0The Current reached out for further details but got no response by press time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, Culture Map San Antonio reports<\/a> that owners Stacie and Jon Rowe opted not to renew the lease on the former Texaco gas station that houses the bar. The Station Cafe, the couple\u2019s adjoining sandwich shop, is expected to remain open, though.<\/p>\n

The Filling Station traces its roots back to 2006, when it began as an early iteration of the Station Cafe, serving pizza, sandwiches, salads and house-made desserts out of the 400-square-foot space. <\/p>\n

The sandwiches gained a cult following, and five years later, the Rowes moved the restaurant side of the venture to 108 King William St., where it continues to today.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Even with the food component gone, the taproom cemented itself as a popular gathering spot for cyclists and also became a place to hobnob during Southtown gatherings such as First Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
