LIV Golf has contested a tournament at Trump Doral in each of its first four seasons, but it is not expected to return in 2026.

“The move there by the tour could be seen as an olive branch being extended to President Trump, who has waded into the ongoing saga between the tour and LIV, as well as the negotiations between the tour and Saudi PIF. Trump has been outspoken in his support of LIV over its first four years,” Carpenter reports.

Trump has not been shy about involving himself in sports throughout his second term. Recently, President Trump revealed UFC is planning an event at the White House to commemorate 250 years of American independence. Over the weekend, he appeared at the FIFA Club World Cup final, even joining Chelsea on-stage for the trophy lift. On his first day in office, President Trump addressed the nation during halftime of the College Football Playoff title game.

Of course, Trump is an avid golfer and has also heavily involved himself in the ongoing divide in professional golf. Earlier this year, he said the PGA Tour-LIV Golf feud is “more complicated” than the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. In March, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan credited Trump for helping bring the warring tours to the negotiating table.

As it stands, reunification does not seem imminent. However, given President Trump’s historical approach to conducting business, it is wise for the PGA Tour to try to be in his good graces. Holding an event at his course is one way of doing just that.

[47
69,1430,19413,1456,62,67,132,68
0":"post-66765","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-golf","8":"tag-donald-trump","9":"tag-golf","10":"tag-liv-golf","11":"tag-pga-tour","12":"tag-sports","13":"tag-united-states","14":"tag-unitedstates","15":"tag-us
["GET
