This is one \u201cBachelorette\u201d twist Jesse Palmer is grateful to leave in the rearview.<\/p>\n
When reflecting on his experience as host of the long-running ABC reality series, the former Giants quarterback revealed he \u201calmost died in Fiji\u201d while shooting Season 20 of the series, which chronicled Charity Lawson\u2019s journey to find love in 2023.<\/p>\n
\u201cCharity and\u00a0[constant] Dotun [Olubeko]\u00a0had this amazing one-on-one date on this secluded little island in the middle of the water. I watched them on their date and thought about how I\u2019d love to just go out there by myself and spend a couple hours on that beach when we were done filming. So I went out there,\u201d Palmer, 47, recalled to Parade<\/a> in an interview published Wednesday.<\/p>\n Jesse Palmer reflected on his experience as host of \u201cThe Bachelor\u201d franchise in a new interview. Shutterstock<\/p>\n \u201cBut then the storm blew in, and the tide started climbing up onto the beach \u2014 to the point where the beach almost got completely covered by the\u00a0ocean. I\u2019m just out in the middle of the ocean, and there\u2019s nothing there. And I thought to myself, \u2018I\u2019m just going to have to tread water and hope a boat comes by and picks me up.’\u201d<\/p>\n Although \u201ca boat came out to check on\u201d Palmer \u201cat the very last second,\u201d the harrowing ordeal rattled the Toronto native.<\/p>\n \u201cI did have some bad thoughts for a moment. Like, this is so crazy and ironic if this is how it ends,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The Giants\u2019 fourth-round pick in 2001, Palmer spent five seasons in the league between New York and San Francisco before turning to the CFL.<\/p>\n Jesse Palmer was drafted by the Giants in 2001.
