The Florida Department of Transportation is asking drivers to plan ahead after scheduling continuous southbound lane closures on I-295 over the Buckman Bridge.<\/p>\n
Two lanes of I-295 South will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 4 a.m. Monday, March 20-23, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible and allow extra travel time.<\/p>\n
The lane closures are part of a larger project to replace finger joints on the Buckman Bridge. The work also includes partial coatings and structural steel repairs. <\/p>\n
FDOT awarded the $5.4 million contract for the improvements to Cekra, Inc. The department expects the project to be complete in summer 2026, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.<\/p>\n
