{"id":670219,"date":"2026-03-20T23:39:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T23:39:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/670219\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T23:39:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T23:39:13","slug":"details-of-morgan-scalleys-5-year-27-million-contract-with-utah-football-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/670219\/","title":{"rendered":"Details of Morgan Scalley&#8217;s 5-year, $27 million contract with Utah football released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SALT LAKE CITY \u2014 A day after former head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksl.com\/article\/51468918\/documents-reveal-kyle-whittingham-intended-to-stay-at-utah-before-michigan-move\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Whittingham stepped down following a 21-year tenure with Utah<\/a>, newly-named head coach Morgan Scalley signed a five-year contract worth $27 million (up to $36 million with incentives), according to his contract that was obtained by KSL.<\/p>\n<p>Scalley signed his first head coaching contract on Dec. 13, a day after being named coach ahead of the Las Vegas Bowl and about two weeks before Whittingham accepted the head coaching job at Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>The details of his contract were obtained by KSL through the state&#8217;s records laws.<\/p>\n<p>In Scalley&#8217;s first season as head coach, his base salary will be $3.6 million, with an increase of $150,000 each year over the five-year term. In addition, he will earn $1 million in multi-media rights payments for &#8220;promotional opportunities&#8221; as part of a personal sponsorship with the university&#8217;s MMR partner, and an additional $500,000 from Under Armour each season.<\/p>\n<p>Scalley also has the potential to make up to $1.5 million each season in &#8220;incentive based compensation,&#8221; which includes bonuses for conference championship game appearances and wins, bowl game appearances, top-25 status as a team, coach of the year awards, as well as academic achievement for his roster.<\/p>\n<p>A full breakdown of his incentives can be found in the attached contract below.
