JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 Jacksonville is on track for a wet afternoon as a low-pressure system makes its way across the state. The system isn\u2019t expected to cause major problems locally, but it will bring rain\u2014especially to the southern and central parts of Florida, with Jacksonville seeing impacts as well.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s morning hours have started off calm and dry, with a mild 76 degrees in Jacksonville and humid conditions. <\/p>\n

If you\u2019re heading out for an early beach walk or want to catch a sunrise, conditions should be pleasant to start the day.<\/p>\n

Afternoon rain, rising heat, and storm risk<\/b><\/p>\n

Rain and storms are forecast to develop early this afternoon, starting around noon, and may continue through the latter part of the afternoon. <\/p>\n

The Weather Authority\u2019s Exact Track 4D radar shows that storm activity will likely fire up first in Georgia and push south into areas including St. Marys, Jacksonville, Palatka, Orange Park, Gainesville, and Lake City by evening.<\/p>\n

Temperatures will heat up through the day, reaching the mid-90s, and the humidity will make it feel even warmer. <\/p>\n

Expect a general risk for thunderstorms, though no severe weather warnings have been issued at this time. <\/p>\n

The summer-like weather pattern is expected to stick around into tomorrow.<\/p>\n

With clouds overhead but no rain this morning, it\u2019s a good window for errands or outdoor plans before storms pick up in the afternoon. <\/p>\n

There\u2019s not much breeze to break up the humidity in Jacksonville early today.<\/p>\n

Tropical outlook: System may develop in the Gulf<\/b><\/p>\n

The Weather Authority confirms that the low-pressure system moving across Florida into the Panhandle will eventually enter the Gulf. <\/p>\n

According to the National Hurricane Center, there\u2019s a 40% chance for this system to become a tropical depression in the next 2 to 7 days as it continues west toward Louisiana.<\/p>\n

The situation is still developing, and The Weather Authority will be keeping a close watch. <\/p>\n
