At the moment they&#8217;ve got a full order book, they&#8217;ve got a full list of customers, so we are confident about medium-term supplies of fuel, but we need to make sure we monitor the situation,&#8221; Mr Cook said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">However, there were some clues about what the government is thinking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Well, you can anticipate a point in the future where we&#8217;ll be encouraging people to use less fuel if they can, but that&#8217;s only if the situation continues to deteriorate,&#8221; Mr Cook said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-03-15\/how-iran-war-fuel-issues-are-impacting-western-australia\/106433076\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">How the Iran war is impacting WA<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The war in the Middle East is beginning to have a tangible impact on the lives of Western Australians. (ABC News: Andrew O&#8217;Connor)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Transport aside, the government maintains fuel distribution is the biggest challenge, but there remain deepening concerns about local supplies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I&#8217;m all out of diesel and unleaded, so pretty much I have nothing underground to sell at the present moment,&#8221; Brad Gregory from Exmouth Fuel Supplies told 102.5 ABC Perth on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Loading&#8230;Opposition softens approach<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">While the government continues to encourage large industry to step up and support smaller regional providers, the opposition leader has changed his approach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">After taking a harder line last week, calling on the <a class=\"Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-03-11\/wa-government-weighing-up-petrol-price-cap-perth-panic-buying\/106441006\" data-component=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">government&#8217;s fuel security roundtable<\/a> to not just be &#8220;an exercise for the cameras&#8221;, Mr Zempilas softened his approach on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-03-20\/gas-giants-go-to-ground-amid-middle-east-war\/106477862\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Can Australia dodge another gas price gouge?<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Are Australians about to endure a re-run of the economic pain brought on by the Ukraine war?
