{"id":67588,"date":"2025-07-16T16:22:20","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T16:22:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/67588\/"},"modified":"2025-07-16T16:22:20","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T16:22:20","slug":"3-restaurants-to-open-in-dallas-near-katy-trail-from-austin-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/67588\/","title":{"rendered":"3 restaurants to open in Dallas, near Katy Trail, from Austin company"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The prolific Texas company that started Clark\u2019s Oyster Bar and Perla\u2019s in Austin and the Hotel Saint Vincent in New Orleans plans to open three restaurants in Dallas-Fort Worth in 2026 and 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">First, MML Hospitality will open Neighborhood Sushi on Oak Lawn Avenue, replacing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2024\/06\/04\/19-restaurant-closures-dallas-fort-worth-april-may-2024\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2024\/06\/04\/19-restaurant-closures-dallas-fort-worth-april-may-2024\/\">former Tulum restaurant<\/a> in Highland Park. Next, it\u2019s Clark\u2019s Oyster Bar, a bay house-inspired seafood restaurant on stilts moving into a 1960s-era office building on Dallas\u2019 Katy Trail. Then, Swedish Hill, a cafe, bakery and deli, is expected to open near Dallas\u2019 Knox Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Leases are signed for the first two restaurants. Managing partner Larry McGuire said he is in negotiations on Swedish Hill. If a deal is signed, Swedish Hill is expected to be neighbors with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2025\/06\/16\/sant-ambroeus-to-open-dallas-knox\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2025\/06\/16\/sant-ambroeus-to-open-dallas-knox\/\">Sant Ambroeus, the first restaurant announced in the Knox Street development<\/a> near the coming-soon Auberge Resorts hotel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">McGuire and partner Tom Moorman opened their first restaurant in Austin, Lamberts, in 2006. The Dallas-area restaurant will be the second, after construction is finished at the Shops of Highland Park on Oak Lawn Avenue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cWe love the location across from Al Biernat\u2019s,\u201d McGuire said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">McGuire and chef Jorge Garcia took inspiration from Sugarfish, which has restaurants in California and New York, for this \u201celevated strip mall sushi\u201d restaurant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cFor us, eating sushi should not be a special occasion,\u201d McGuire said. \u201cWe think of it as pretty simple Japanese dining. And we build these warm, zen-y spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Garcia\u2019s menu includes tempura vegetables, yakitori, nigiri, sashimi, sushi rolls and a daily grilled fish collar special. It\u2019s expected to be MML\u2019s second Dallas restaurant, McGuire confirmed to The Dallas Morning News, following a lengthy construction project to turn an aging office building near Dallas\u2019 Fitzhugh Avenue into a restaurant with a patio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Clark\u2019s is the Austin-based company\u2019s most replicated restaurant \u2014 and the first in the fleet to expand outside of Texas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In Dallas, McGuire said, \u201cwe\u2019ve been looking for years and years.\u201d They\u2019re excited by the movement on Fitzhugh: Dallas-owned restaurant Beverley\u2019s was a catalyst, and newer additions like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2023\/08\/11\/dallas-has-a-new-upscale-chinese-restaurant-maison-chinoise\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2023\/08\/11\/dallas-has-a-new-upscale-chinese-restaurant-maison-chinoise\/\">Maison Chinoise<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2024\/10\/15\/look-inside-le-passage-one-of-dallas-most-anticipated-new-restaurants-of-2024\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2024\/10\/15\/look-inside-le-passage-one-of-dallas-most-anticipated-new-restaurants-of-2024\/\">Le PasSage<\/a> suggest there\u2019s room for more restaurants on the block.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">McGuire loved the \u201cquirky\u201d building they picked, tucked off of Fitzhugh and recently used for COVID tests. Managing partner Larry McGuire said he wants his restaurants to have a &#8220;connection to Austin,&#8221; and the Katy Trail reminded him of the outdoorsy atmosphere in the capitol city.(JUSTIN COOK)<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The menu will resemble the other Clark\u2019s restaurants, which focus on oysters and seafood entrees from the East and West coasts. He\u2019s looking now for a commissary kitchen in the Dallas Design District where the company\u2019s chefs can bake bread, croissants, custom cakes and more \u2014 not only for MML\u2019s other Dallas restaurants, but for his forecasted expansion of Swedish Hill into four or five locations in North Texas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">First up: He is working on a lease near Knox and Travis streets in Dallas \u2014 and again, adjacent to the Katy Trail. If that cafe opens as planned in 2027, McGuire said he\u2019ll look to other locations in Dallas-Fort Worth where the coffee shop, bakery and deli can expand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">They opened Swedish Hill in Austin in 2019. \u201cIt became very busy and very popular,\u201d McGuire said of the counter-service shop. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Swedish Hill expanded to Aspen, where it serves coffees and pastries inside the art museum. Dallas is expected to be Swedish Hill\u2019s third city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m really proud of the level of food we\u2019re producing, from breakfast to dinner and takeout,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Swedish Hill is expected to open in Dallas in early 2027.
