Items from the life and career of the late singer Whitney Houston will be auctioned off in Los Angeles next month, Julien’s Auctions announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation Auction will take place on Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. PST. <\/p>\n
Organizers hope to raise awareness and generate vital support for the foundation’s initiatives, scholarships and services designed to address the needs of today’s youth.<\/p>\n
A preview of the auction’s highlights will be on view at the foundation’s 4th Annual Legacy of Love Gala on Aug. 9, on what would have been Houston’s 62nd birthday, at the St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.<\/p>\n

“For Whitney’s 40th Anniversary, we have some of her unique and one- of-a-kind items and garments that Whitney wore on stage and at various A-list events and at home. Gathering those items brought back so many memories. We look forward to previewing this year’s collection with her supporters globally.”<\/p>\n

There are four ways to bid at the auction: online, over the phone through an auction house representative, in person in the room or in advance by absentee bid.<\/p>\n
Houston was found unconscious and submerged in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton on Feb. 11, 2012, and pronounced dead. Coroner’s officials said her cause of death was drowning caused by heart disease and cocaine use. She was 48.<\/p>\n
