Typically, inspectors have had good first impressions at these restaurants, and they are in the running to possibly be awarded Michelin\u2019s more high-powered designations, like stars, later on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">First up, it\u2019s no surprise that <a href=\"https:\/\/kabawa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kabawa<\/a>, the Caribbean tasting menu spot from Momofuku vet Paul Carmichael, which has been snapping up accolades <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grubstreet.com\/article\/momofuku-kabawa-nyc-restaurant-review.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">left<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/07\/08\/dining\/kabawa-restaurant-review.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">right<\/a> since <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/3\/26\/24393668\/momofuku-kabawa-opening-east-village\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its spring debut<\/a>, is on the list. \u201cFrom its elegant dark green dining room with subtle regional references to its sophisticated three-course tasting menu, expect an elevated take on the tropics,\u201d according to the inspectors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Two Thai restaurants made the list, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hungrythirstynyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hungry Thirsty<\/a>, the new Carroll Gardens spot <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/4\/15\/24404751\/hungry-thirsty-thai-restaurant-scene-report-review-carroll-gardens-brooklyn-ugly-baby\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">run by a band of Ugly Baby veterans<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/glinthaibistro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glin Thai Bistro<\/a>, a year-old restaurant in Fort Greene. Inspectors praise the latter restaurant for its \u201cunique offerings using high-quality ingredients, all with a distinctively Thai look and feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Other Brooklyn restaurants on the list include Red Hook\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kesnewyork.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caf\u00e9 Kestrel<\/a>; Greenpoint\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/taqueriaelchato.nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Taqueria El Chato<\/a>, from the crew behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2024\/8\/28\/24214430\/taqueria-el-chato-open-greenpoint-brooklyn-aldama-ponyboy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">now-closed Mexican restaurant Aldama<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ensobk\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Enso<\/a> in Williamsburg, known for its traditional edomae-style omakase; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.6restaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">6 Restaurant<\/a>, with its six-seat tasting counter and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.6restaurant.com\/faq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">candid diner photos<\/a>; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mangobay.nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mango Bay<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/1\/2\/24325171\/nyc-new-restaurant-openings-january-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revamped<\/a> Caribbean restaurant led by executive chef London Chase (whose resume includes stints at Essential by Christophe and Manhatta). Inspectors describe it as \u201cthe sort of place you want to go again and again with friends.\u201d Plus, Bay Ridge Yemeni restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yemenat.rest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yemenat<\/a> won a spot on the list for dishes such as its well-executed lamb haneeth (braised lamb shoulder) and shakshoka Adeni (a Yemeni-style spin on shakshuka).<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">In Manhattan, inspectors were impressed by chef Jiho Kim\u2019s West Village restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joomaknyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joomak<\/a>, the second iteration of his <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2024\/3\/21\/24107589\/joomak-banjum-closing-koreatown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former<\/a> one-Michelin-starred Koreatown spot Joomak Banjum. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.addanyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adda<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/4\/29\/24420313\/adda-nyc-indian-restaurant-lic-closed-reopening-east-village-unapologetic-foods-open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">relocated Indian restaurant<\/a> from the high-flying Unapologetic Foods team (who are also behind the celebrated restaurants Semma and Dhamaka, among others), is on the list, as is <a href=\"https:\/\/maisonpasserellenyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maison Passerelle<\/a>, Portland chef Gregory Gourdet\u2019s sparkling French restaurant inside downtown luxury department store Printemps. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.papasannyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Papa San<\/a>, the Peruvian and Japanese restaurant from acclaimed Llama San creators Juan Correa and Erik Ramirez, and Georgian debut <a href=\"https:\/\/laliko.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laliko<\/a>, home to <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/3\/24\/24389586\/laliko-nyc-georgian-restaurant-open-west-village\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a formidable \u201cmother dumpling,\u201d<\/a> round out the list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">The date for Michelin\u2019s annual New York awards ceremony has not yet been announced, but it typically takes place towards the end of the year. (Last year, it was held <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2024\/12\/9\/24317566\/michelin-restaurants-nyc-stars-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in December<\/a>.)
