{"id":676353,"date":"2026-03-23T16:24:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-23T16:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/676353\/"},"modified":"2026-03-23T16:24:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T16:24:14","slug":"forest-parkers-want-rory-hoskins-in-congress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/676353\/","title":{"rendered":"Forest Parkers want Rory Hoskins in Congress\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Forest Park voters\u00a0liked\u00a0the idea of sending Mayor Rory Hoskins to Congress.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After polls closed at 7 p.m. last Tuesday, La Shawn Ford was quick to claim victory in the Democratic primary in the Illinois 7th\u00a0congressional district, a win\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0likely to make him the area\u2019s next\u00a0congressman.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Among over\u00a097,000 voters\u00a0across the district \u2014 which stretches from the South Side of Chicago, along I-290, to the West Side of Chicago and some western suburbs \u2014 Ford got\u00a0nearly 24%\u00a0of the vote, with runner-up Melissa\u00a0Conyears-Ervin getting over 20%,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2026\/us\/elections\/results-illinois-us-house-7-primary.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">according to unofficial election results from the New York Times<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Forest Park, the race was even closer, but between Ford and Hoskins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hoskins did not return multiple requests for comment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The general election for Congress will take place in November, but the district is heavily dominated by Democratic voters. Thirteen Democratic candidates ran in the primary to succeed the current long-time representative, Danny Davis,\u00a0who\u2019s\u00a0retiring in January.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Out of\u00a0nearly\u00a010,900\u00a0registered voters\u00a0in Forest Park, over 3,000 voted, 20.5% for Hoskins and 21% for Ford. In the village, Hoskins fell behind Ford by only 13 votes. Hoskins garnered only 2% of the district-wide vote.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Driver Jr. and Kina Collins both got over 11% of the Forest Park vote. Driver saw a similar percentage in the\u00a0district as a whole, but\u00a0Collins got about 9% of district-wide vote. Collins performed better in suburban Cook County, where she was runner-up to Ford.
