Those who drive more can earn higher payments, with the maximum benefit available to drivers exceeding 250 miles weekly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The program comes as gas prices in the U.S. have surged in recent weeks, nearing $4 per gallon \u2014 an increase of more than 30% over the past month, according to industry data. <\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In addition to the weekly payments, DoorDash said drivers who use its company debit card will receive 10% cash back on gas purchases, an increase from the standard rate. Combined, the company estimates drivers could save up to $1.90 per gallon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">DoorDash said the relief effort is designed to help offset rising operating costs for drivers, who are typically responsible for covering their own fuel, maintenance and insurance expenses.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cRising gas prices have a real impact on Dashers, especially those who are delivering the most,\u201d a company executive said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The temporary program is scheduled to run through April 26.
