\n\tMore than three years later, Matt Reeves<\/a>\u2018 The Batman<\/a> is still inching toward a sequel.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the same interview that he said Reeves\u2019 franchise \u201cis still really important<\/a>,\u201d DC Studios<\/a> co-CEO James Gunn<\/a> recently admitted he\u2019s \u201cirritated\u201d by all the doubt from fans over the highly-anticipated followup.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cListen, we\u2019re supposed to get a script in June,\u201d he told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>. \u201cI hope that happens. We feel really good about it. Matt\u2019s excited. I talk to Matt all the time. I\u2019m totally excited about it. So we can\u2019t wait to read the scripts, but we haven\u2019t read it yet, if that\u2019s your question.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGunn bluntly continued, \u201cPeople should get off Matt\u2019s nuts because it\u2019s like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. That\u2019s just the way it is. He doesn\u2019t owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough he noted Reeves doesn\u2019t \u201clet it affect him,\u201d Gunn said,\u201dBut I am irritated by people. I mean, it\u2019s just that thing people don\u2019t need to be entitled about. It\u2019s going to come out when he feels good about the screenplay. And Matt\u2019s not going to give me the screenplay until he feels good about the screenplay.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPremiering July 11 in theaters, Gunn\u2019s Superman will launch a new DCU<\/a> with the Gods and Monsters phase, separate from Reeves\u2019 \u2018Batman Epic Crime Saga\u2019, which includes The Batman (2022) and last year\u2019s Max series spin-off The Penguin.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter Gunn previously defended the delays<\/a> on The Batman Part II<\/a>, which is set to premiere<\/a> on Oct. 1, 2027 following a year-long postponement, Reeves said in January that the sequel will film<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re doing something where the story continues from, but I hope that people will be surprised by,\u201d he told Deadline.<\/p>\n
