See the full list."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"X263HELYRBA2NPH2BS2AR4YVZU\">A Hudson County resident with measles could have exposed others at a hospital, a coffee shop, a mall, and several other locations,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/health\/news\/2025\/approved\/20250328c.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/health\/news\/2025\/approved\/20250328c.shtml\"> the state Health Department announced <\/a>Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2OLF4ZL66REMJBPPRYGYUTZMAY\">Anyone who visited the following locations during the dates and times could have been exposed to measles and should monitor for symptoms that could appear as late as August 2, health officials said:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"article__unordered-list\">\n<li id=\"VGOBWZ726JASPOB6ROLBPX5ZFQ\">Emergency department at University Hospital in Newark on July 4 between 5:30 &#8211; 10:15 p.m.<\/li>\n<li id=\"OVT3IMA5DFCXRF4JIW6IXQPJIU\">Pediatric emergency department at Hackensack University Medical Center on July 4 &#8211; 5, between 11:15 p.m. and 2:30 a.m.<\/li>\n<li id=\"K5HMLPCWORCRHOGHVAULDS6IZ4\">Pediatric emergency department at Hackensack University Medical Center on July 8-9, between 12:45-7:15 a.m.<\/li>\n<li id=\"PKSZBD74NFFDXOYMNMQJJNGCS4\">Joseph M. Sanzari Children\u2019s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center On July 8-9, between 5:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<li id=\"IYQF37EYURACZORHHOLRQ264NU\">Roast\u2019d Coffee at 10 River Dr. S. in Jersey City on July 6, between 4-7 p.m. <\/li>\n<li id=\"ZUMTFI3Z7ZE2FLMWAFAXBWGRJM\">Newport Mall in Jersey City on July 6, between 6-9 p.m. <\/li>\n<li id=\"BCFIV43GWVAWNLJ4VUXE6ZY4BM\">Al-Basha at 1076 Main St. in Paterson on July 6, between 8-11 p.m.<\/li>\n<li id=\"QI5IQWVK5ZERXKVUJAJINCA23U\">Elite Pediatrics at 1 Broadway, Suite 303 in Paterson on July 7, between 10 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. <\/li>\n<li id=\"TXR3SIDH5BGV7EKYVAFJAQSPXY\">CVS at 220 Schuyler Ave. in Kearny on July 7, between 12:30-3 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"N5VWKNOX4ZBTFFMRRQCDKSGLAE\">Individuals at risk include those who have not been fully vaccinated or have not had measles in the past.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4ECN3UA4PFCGTITYKSN3QNZDMU\"><b>ALSO: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/healthfit\/2025\/03\/do-i-need-a-measles-vaccine-booster.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/healthfit\/2025\/03\/do-i-need-a-measles-vaccine-booster.html\"><b>Do I need a measles vaccine booster?<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"HXANZQ4QFRGIHHJUZAGV5GRZRI\">The case is unrelated to an Ocean County measles case reported last week. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6JYXKUSG5VDFDN737J3CNUJJUE\">The Garden State has reported five measles cases among residents so far in 2025, three of which were part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/healthfit\/2025\/02\/new-measles-cases-tied-to-nj-patient-who-visited-3-health-facilities.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/healthfit\/2025\/02\/new-measles-cases-tied-to-nj-patient-who-visited-3-health-facilities.html\">household outbreak<\/a> in February. The cases involved unvaccinated people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"L2QCGJO3JVDADHEF32G3FEI54M\">Currently, the state is not experiencing a measles outbreak, which is defined as three or more related cases by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/measles\/data-research\/index.html#cdc_data_surveillance_section_10-measles-cases-in-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/measles\/data-research\/index.html#cdc_data_surveillance_section_10-measles-cases-in-2025\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TDC63SRO3FH2PMCMZK67YT2S4Y\">Symptoms of measles include a high fever, cough, runny nose, watery red eyes, and a red rash that begins at the hairline, according to the CDC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"34WKTLPADBA3TPRTY23WGUOYVY\">The rash usually starts three to five days after the other symptoms. People can spread measles to others from four days before through four days after the rash appears.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SGZPLKQTBBA35IC4YUZBEE7QRM\">Anyone who suspects an exposure is urged to call their local health department or a health care provider before going to any medical office or emergency department. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2X7EIFVAPBHA5JAIJBGPO4KEYU\">Ninety-seven percent of the cases reported in the United States for 2025 are among people who had not received the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine or have unknown vaccination status, according to the New Jersey Department of Health.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SAMFMVV3GFELBF7QLXJWGDVCJI\">As of July 8, a total of 1,288 confirmed measles cases were reported by 39 states, according to the CDC. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5D2UMT4KVZA5VO6R7SXWXMJTUE\">That marks the highest annual measles case tally in 33 years, when officials recorded more than 2,100 infections in 1992.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TWIWGVM7QVAVBAUI4IKXRKNH2A\">Thank you for relying on us to provide the local news you can trust.
