Sarah Michelle Gellar<\/a> says she and Reese Witherspoon<\/a> were too shy to pencil in a play date with Adele<\/a> for all of their kids.<\/p>\n

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/a> alum explained on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/a> that her and her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.<\/a>\u2019s son Rocky, now 13, attended preschool with Adele\u2019s son Angelo, also 13, years ago. When her son expressed an interest in playing with Angelo one day after school, Gellar admitted that she and the other parents \u2014\u00a0including Witherspoon \u2014 were too intimidated by the \u201cSkyfall\u201d singer to pick up the phone and work out the details.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey [the kids] all loved Angelo. Everybody loved this kid,\u201d she explained. \u201cThey all wanted a play date, and everyone was like, \u2018Well, who\u2019s gonna call Adele and ask for a play date?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Gellar took herself out of the equation immediately.\u00a0\u201cI was like, ‘Not it, not it, not it!’\u201d she exclaimed, raising her hand in the air. \u201cReese Witherspoon\u2019s son [Tennessee] was also in the class. I\u2019m like, \u2018Reese, you\u2019re the most famous. You have to ask Adele for a [play date].'”<\/p>\n

But Witherspoon wasn’t ready to say hello<\/a> to Adele, either. “She\u2019s like, \u2018I don\u2019t want to ask Adele!\u2019” Gellar recalled. “None of us wanted to ask. We were all so nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n

When host Kelly Clarkson <\/a>noted that Adele was probably feeling equally as nervous, Gellar replied, \u201cI don\u2019t know, but we were so\u2026 like, none of us wanted to ask her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Emmy-winning actress revealed that Adele and her son Angelo, whom she shares with ex-husband Simon Konecki, eventually moved back to London in the end, dashing their play date dreams.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe came into class and she brought all of these double-decker buses and a whole book about where her son was moving to,\u201d Gellar said. \u201cAnd our son came home and [he] was like, \u2018Yeah, his mom came to school.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

To say Gellar was a little envious that her son got to spend time with the 16-time Grammy winner is a bit of an understatement. \u201cWe\u2019re all like, \u2018What! What! Why weren\u2019t we at school?!\u2019\u201d\u00a0she added.<\/p>\n

Clarkson, who is mom to daughter River Rose and son Remington Alexander, pointed out that it\u2019s important to find parents that you like spending time with when it comes to setting up play dates.<\/p>\n

In response, Gellar clarified that Adele was \u201cso lovely\u201d whenever they crossed paths on the playground.\u00a0\u201cLet me end that story with she was so lovely and couldn\u2019t have been nicer,\u201d she said, \u201cbut, man, we were all way too shy to call Adele.\u201d<\/p>\n
