He arrived at Central Booking at about 11:50 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iapps.courts.state.ny.us\/webcrim_attorney\/Detail?which=charge&amp;docketNumber=mUQKvo3b\/tOAY0frRqPjtQ==&amp;countyId=rONpdR1_PLUS_SJ0uG_PLUS_d_PLUS_N1gblw==&amp;docketId=1ZMkUrbbrXDFeYvXoYRdjg==&amp;docketDseq=T\/O1YN_PLUS_BG65HkOeqEnpAkw==&amp;defendantName=Thoms,+Vincent&amp;court=New+York+Criminal+Court&amp;courtType=U&amp;recordType=U&amp;recordNum=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Court records indicated<\/a> he had been charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.<\/p>\n<p>While undergoing a medical evaluation, something which all arrested individuals at Central Booking undergo, Thoms suffered an unknown medical emergency, the sources said. Police called EMS and a team of paramedics responded.<\/p>\n<p>EMS rushed Thoms to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where hospital staff pronounced him dead.\n<\/p>\n<p>The exact cause of his death is unknown at this time and under investigation. Police said the NYPD Force Investigation Division, which handles in-custody deaths, is now investigating the matter.\n<\/p>\n<p>Court records noted that Thoms had four other criminal cases pending against him for arrests dating back to July 2025 on a litany of charges including <a href=\"https:\/\/iapps.courts.state.ny.us\/webcrim_attorney\/Detail?which=charge&amp;docketNumber=1CDAa89FNMtmxOA80QA9_PLUS_Q==&amp;countyId=rONpdR1_PLUS_SJ0uG_PLUS_d_PLUS_N1gblw==&amp;docketId=DZ9qmp03um1v\/p94P2I9hQ==&amp;docketDseq=T\/O1YN_PLUS_BG65HkOeqEnpAkw==&amp;defendantName=Thoms,+Vincent&amp;court=New+York+Criminal+Court&amp;courtType=U&amp;recordType=U&amp;recordNum=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">assault<\/a>, harassment, <a href=\"https:\/\/iapps.courts.state.ny.us\/webcrim_attorney\/Detail?which=charge&amp;docketNumber=8eHVcc4paQRGPTYweNpLmQ==&amp;countyId=rONpdR1_PLUS_SJ0uG_PLUS_d_PLUS_N1gblw==&amp;docketId=6x9tLNCsT2usoBm4HSonhw==&amp;docketDseq=T\/O1YN_PLUS_BG65HkOeqEnpAkw==&amp;defendantName=Thoms,+Vincent&amp;court=New+York+Criminal+Court&amp;courtType=U&amp;recordType=U&amp;recordNum=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">criminal mischief<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/iapps.courts.state.ny.us\/webcrim_attorney\/Detail?which=appearance&amp;docketNumber=Usf2Yuq6uM4EhnY_PLUS_NXFwuw==&amp;countyId=rONpdR1_PLUS_SJ0uG_PLUS_d_PLUS_N1gblw==&amp;docketId=c67O_PLUS_OYoyGbL\/V74DRVO5A==&amp;docketDseq=T\/O1YN_PLUS_BG65HkOeqEnpAkw==&amp;defendantName=Thoms,+Vincent&amp;court=New+York+Criminal+Court&amp;courtType=U&amp;recordType=U&amp;recordNum=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">criminal possession of a controlled substance.<\/a> He had been released without bail after each arrest.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the Legal Aid Society noted that no fewer than nine New Yorkers had died in police custody last year.
