The second seed is looking to become the eighth man to achieve this historic feat, but must first earn his spot in the quarterfinals. Who will progress?

ATP Miami Day 7 Predictions
Frances Tiafoe vs Terence Atmane

Head-to-head: Tiafoe 1-0 Atmane

Atmane is proving that his level at the Masters 1000 wasn’t a one-off after that sensational run in Cincinnati last summer. He was on a three-match losing streak coming to Miami, but he’s won three in a row in this tournament to secure his spot in the last 16. Tiafoe, for his part, ended Jakub Mensik’s title reign in Miami in a dramatic match. The American saved two match points to win a thrilling final set tiebreak. As massive as that win was, Tiafoe is coming off a three-hour grind without an extra day of rest. That said, his fitness base is solid, and he should thrive if he manages his energy well.

Prediction: Tiafoe in 3

Ugo Humbert vs Francisco Cerundolo

Head-to-head: Cerundolo 1-0 Humbert

Cerundolo saw off Daniil Medvedev in a very entertaining third-round match. He was flawless in the opening set, where he dismantled Medvedev 6-0, but needed to save a late break point in the final set, which he prevailed 7-5. Humbert is enjoying his best run in this tournament. There is no doubt that the draw opened up a bit for him after Ben Shelton’s early elimination, and Humbert took care of Shelton’s conqueror, Alexander Shevchenko, in the last round. Nevertheless, there’s something about Miami that brings out Cerundolo’s best tennis. This venue is one of his strongholds. That comfort and current form should carry him through to the quarterfinals.

Prediction: Cerundolo in 2

Alexander Zverev vs Quentin Halys

Head-to-head: first meeting

Halys has been a serving menace in this tournament. He’s dropped serve just three times in three matches, and when he is in such rhythm, the Frenchman is very dangerous. Before the tournament, the discussion centered on title favorites Alcaraz and Sinner. But Zverev is keenly reminding us why he is a seven-time champion at the Masters 1000 level, and he should be in contention. And the German plays his best tennis when the pressure is off. I expect Zverev’s return depth and backhand stability to wear down Halys.

Prediction: Zverev in 3

Jannik Sinner vs Alex Michelsen

Head-to-head: Sinner 2-0 Michelsen

It’s been nearly a decade since an ATP player won Indian Wells and Miami in back-to-back weeks. Jannik Sinner is now just four wins away from adding his name to that distinguished list. Since his shock defeat to Jakub Mensik in Doha, Sinner has not dropped a set in his last eight matches and cruised past Corentin Moutet in the last round. Alex Michelsen will bring the firepower and use every attempt to hit through the Italian, but Sinner’s elite return game will hurt the American.

Prediction: Sinner in 2

Main Photo Credit: Mike Frey – Imagn Images

With Carlos Alcaraz already eliminated, who will stop Jannik Sinner from completing the Sunshine Double sweep at the…

[48
17640,17641,3098,21406,280800,27762,232882,74411,232883,1824,155711,252092,252093,62,1464,1474,1475,87354,171458,13872,13873,67,132,68
0":"post-678242","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-tennis","8":"tag-alex-michelsen","9":"tag-alex-michelsen-predictions","10":"tag-alexander-zverev","11":"tag-alexander-zverev-predictions","12":"tag-atp-miami-predictions","13":"tag-frances-tiafoe","14":"tag-frances-tiafoe-predictions","15":"tag-francisco-cerundolo","16":"tag-francisco-cerundolo-predictions","17":"tag-jannik-sinner","18":"tag-jannik-sinner-predictions","19":"tag-quentin-halys","20":"tag-quentin-halys-predictions","21":"tag-sports","22":"tag-tennis","23":"tag-tennis-picks","24":"tag-tennis-predictions","25":"tag-terence-atmane","26":"tag-terence-atmane-predictions","27":"tag-ugo-humbert","28":"tag-ugo-humbert-predictions","29":"tag-united-states","30":"tag-unitedstates","31":"tag-us
["GET
