{"id":6806,"date":"2025-06-23T01:59:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T01:59:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/6806\/"},"modified":"2025-06-23T01:59:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T01:59:11","slug":"heat-dome-over-ontario-and-quebec-causing-wild-weather-across-much-of-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/6806\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Heat dome\u2019 over Ontario and Quebec causing wild weather across much of Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blame the\u00a0heat\u00a0dome hanging over Ontario and Quebec for some of the strange weather hitting other parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Environment Canada meteorologist Julien Pellerin says scorching temperatures over the eastern part of the continent are causing below-normal temperatures in other regions, which have led to warnings of wet snow and heavy rain in the West.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have a\u00a0heat\u00a0dome on a sector, you can expect colder air in another sector, so that\u2019s what the Prairies are currently experiencing,\u201d Pellerin said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s coming from the United States, a high-pressure system that doesn\u2019t move quickly \u2026 so it brings intense\u00a0heat\u00a0and moist air over southern Ontario and southern Quebec and it\u2019ll settle there for the next three days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dangerous temperature levels span from southwestern Ontario towards North Bay, Sudbury and Timmins, while in Quebec the highest temperatures are expected from Montreal to Shawinigan and north up to Abitibi.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Pellerin says he expects Ontario and Quebec to hit their peak daytime highs on Monday and Tuesday with temperatures rising above 30 C, and the humidex making it feel more like 40 to 45 degrees, depending on the region.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/national.jpg\" alt=\"For news impacting Canada and around the world, sign up for breaking news alerts delivered directly to you when they happen.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGet breaking National news<\/p>\n<p>For news impacting Canada and around the world, sign up for breaking news alerts delivered directly to you when they happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt won\u2019t last very long,\u201d he added. \u201cBy the end of Tuesday and Wednesday, we will have a transition in air mass all over Canada, especially over Quebec and Ontario.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, the effects of the\u00a0heat\u00a0dome are bringing surprises to other parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Canada<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Environment Canada warned that areas in British Columbia could face heavy showers, and over some of the highway summits, the possibility of wet snow.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, heavy rainfall advisories that had been in effect in southern Alberta were all lifted by Sunday, but the region received significant precipitation.
