{"id":68158,"date":"2025-07-16T21:27:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T21:27:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/68158\/"},"modified":"2025-07-16T21:27:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T21:27:10","slug":"tomorrowland-main-stage-catches-fire-but-festival-will-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/68158\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomorrowland Main Stage Catches Fire, But Festival Will Continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/tomorrowland\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tomorrowland\" data-tag=\"tomorrowland\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tomorrowland<\/a> will go ahead as planned, even after the main stage caught fire on Wednesday, July 16, one day before the massively popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/edm\/\" id=\"auto-tag_edm\" data-tag=\"edm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">EDM<\/a> festival in Belgium was set to begin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn a statement shared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DMLdkIRoz4l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Instagram<\/a>, organizers wrote, \u201cDue to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged.\u201d They also confirmed that no one was injured or killed in the blaze.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAs it stands, Tomorrowland will open its DreamVille campsite on Thursday, July 17, where several events and performances will take place. Additional events planned in Brussels and Antwerp will also go ahead \u201cas planned,\u201d organizers said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAs for the rest of the festival, which is set to run July 18 through 20 (with a second weekend slated for July 24 through 27), organizers said, \u201cWe are focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend. More updates and detailed information will be communicated as soon as possible.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAt a press conference (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gva.be\/incoming\/mainstage-tomorrowland-vernield-door-brand-festival-gaat-door\/78244785.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Gazet van Antwerpen<\/a>), Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen said, \u201cYears of love and passion have gone into building that stage. Those teams are devastated.\u201d She added, \u201cTomorrow, 38,000 festival-goers will arrive, we\u2019re really looking forward to that, and we\u2019re going to give them a warm welcome. We\u2019re going to make it a wonderful festival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWilmsen noted that all of the other Tomorrowland stages are still \u201cintact,\u201d adding, \u201cThe intention is for the festival to go ahead. But we can\u2019t do magic, so it will be without the main stage. Our production team will now do everything they can to make it truly special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIt\u2019s still unclear what caused the fire. In some videos <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/weraveyou\/status\/1945526985792352429\">shared online<\/a>, what sounded like fireworks could be heard popping off in the background as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Sources told the Gazet van Antwerpen that something may have gone wrong while the main stage\u2019s fireworks cannons were being tested.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tA local firefighter, Fran\u00e7ois van den Eynde, told reporters that the blaze \u201cspread very quickly,\u201d likely because of the \u201cmaterials used\u201d to build the stage. \u201cDespite all our resources, it was impossible to stop something like that,\u201d he said. \u201cWe tried to extinguish the fire, but as soon as you realize you\u2019re not succeeding, you have to limit the damage to the rest of the festival site. That\u2019s what we did. Everything is under control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn the 20 years since it began, Tomorrowland has become one of the biggest and most popular music festivals in the world, with last year\u2019s event attracting an estimated 400,000 people.
