CLEMSON \u2014 Chad Morris<\/a><\/strong> visited with the media\u00a0after practice this evening as the Tigers have one more session before Saturday\u2019s spring game.<\/p>\n

A few of the more notable items:<\/p>\n

\u2014 Morris said Christopher Vizzina<\/a><\/strong> is the starting quarterback exiting spring.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s our guy. But there\u2019s still competition. No one has signed a lifetime contract. We want competition all across the board.\u201d<\/p>\n

I asked him if Tait Reynolds<\/a><\/strong> is capable of pushing Vizzina for the starting job.<\/p>\n

He paused and answered: \u201cI think we\u2019ve got great competition going on at quarterback, I really do. CV is our top guy and he\u2019s gotten the reps there and has really progressed. I\u2019m pleased with the way he\u2019s proceeded and grown this spring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morris said Reynolds \u201chas done a really good job.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been growing pains. Anytime you have a freshman out there and you\u2019re putting a lot on him you\u2019re going to have some ups and downs. But how does he respond? As a coach that\u2019s what you look for. But you can coach him extremely hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Chris Denson<\/a><\/strong>: \u201cHe\u2019s done a good job. He\u2019s gotten better and feels a little bit more comfortable every practice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 I asked Morris if there was any consideration given to making the quarterbacks live this spring.<\/p>\n

He said he and Dabo Swinney<\/a><\/strong> talked about it but Swinney felt it wasn\u2019t a good idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve done it before. We just didn\u2019t feel like we were in a position to be ready to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Morris said this has been the offense\u2019s best week of practice thus far. He said the stadium scrimmage two weeks ago was a struggle \u201cbut there were some bright spots.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 He said there\u2019s still a long way to go before this offense will be fully adjusted to the tempo.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill a long way to go. We\u2019ve got to get in shape. But I think these guys understand the pace I want to play at. They\u2019ve definitely bought in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 He said Gideon Davidson<\/a><\/strong> has had a really good spring. He also likes Chris Johnson<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He made a point to note how well Tyler Brown<\/a><\/strong> has played this spring.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has taken just about every rep and been intentional with the way he practices.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Given that vertical throws are such a major objective in Morris\u2019 offense, I asked him for his evaluation of that area thus far.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working on that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He noted that it\u2019s been difficult to get the right timing on the deep balls because Bryant Wesco<\/a><\/strong>, TJ Moore<\/a><\/strong> and others have been out.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got to continue to stress that over the course of the summer. It will be good to get our guys back healthy so we can work on that timing. I\u2019ll be a huge emphasis this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Morris said there are eight or nine guys they feel good about on the offensive line. Loves what he\u2019s seen from center Harris Sewell<\/a><\/strong>. He\u2019s also happy that Brayden Jacobs<\/a><\/strong> is back. He\u2019s been impressed with Elyjah Thurmon<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n
