Elon Musk\u2019s The Boring Company (TBC) might not have gifted San Antonio with a free underground tunnel, but it says it\u2019s willing to dig deeper into one proposal. Morgan\u2019s Wonderland<\/a> theme park is one of two national projects the corporation has championed for logistical support in its recent Tunnel Vision<\/a> contest. <\/p>\n

In January, the tunnel construction venture announced the competition, boasting it could complete years-long projects in mere weeks without the price tag. It said it was looking for projects to be useful, feasible, and have high stakeholder engagement.<\/p>\n

Although Boring did not select Morgan\u2019s as a winner, it did say it was willing to lend a hand to make the theme park\u2019s tunnel possible \u2014 though details about financing remain hazy. If it ever gets built, it will be the first TBC project in Bexar County.<\/p>\n

\u201c[T]here were multiple other projects that TBC thought were so compelling that we are going to continue to work with the entrants and try to get them built,\u201d wrote Boring on X<\/a>, naming San Antonio and a utility project in Hendersonville, Tennessee.<\/p>\n

Three other cities, including one in Texas, were luckier in the first round. After meeting with officials, Boring says Dallas and New Orleans are still in the running to get complimentary tunnels should they clear the \u201crigorous diligence process.\u201d Raven Loop in Baltimore was knocked out after the initial round of talks.<\/p>\n

Dallas, notably the finalist with the least regulatory hurdles, seems to be on track for the first build. The tunnel is meant to strengthen access to transit and jobs in South Dallas with a possible extension north. TBC is hoping to submit a permit application in April, according to an X post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Morgan\u2019s tunnel might not be sidelined just yet. With typical Musk bravado, TBC teased that it might reconsider other projects.<\/p>\n
