\n\tBruce Springsteen<\/a> is returning to the Minneapolis\u2013Saint Paul area on Saturday, March 28 to appear at a No Kings rally and perform his protest song \u201cStreets of Minneapolis,\u201d which he released in late January after U.S. citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti were shot to death in Minneapolis by federal ICE agents. Springsteen performed the song live<\/a> for the first time a few days after its release in an appearance at Minneapolis\u2019 famous First Avenue club.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpringsteen\u2019s song targets Donald Trump<\/a> with lyrics referring to ICE as \u201cTrump\u2019s private army.\u201d The music icon has regularly spoken out against the U.S. president, and it appears he\u2019s not going to slow down during his upcoming tour. Springsteen announced earlier this year <\/a>his \u201cLand of Hope & Dreams American Tour\u201d will kick off at Minneapolis\u2019 Target Center on March 31.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe tour is going to be political and very topical about what\u2019s going on in the country,\u201d Springsteen told the Minnesota Star Tribune<\/a> ahead of his return to the state for the No Kings rally. \u201cMinneapolis and St. Paul, that was the place I wanted to begin it, and I wanted to end it in Washington.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe E Street Band is built for hard times. It always was,\u201d he continued. \u201cThese are the moments when I think we can be of real value and real worth to the community. These are moments that fill the band with purpose, so I try to fill the set list around those ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSpringsteen noted that he\u2019s setting out for a new tour at a time \u201cwhen the country\u201d is \u201ccritically challenged and our basic ideas and values as critically challenged.\u201d The musician told Time magazine<\/a>\u00a0last fall that he continues to publicly slam Trump because \u201ca lot of people bought into his lies.\u201d Springsteen added that Trump should be \u201ccosigned to the trash heap of history.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIs the musician worried that his outspoken anti-Trump politics will lose and\/or alienate a certain part of audience? \u201cI don\u2019t worry about it,\u201d he told the Minnesota Star Tribune<\/a>. \u201cMy job is very simple: I do what I want to do, I say what I want to say and then people get to say what they want to say about it. Those are the rules of my game. That\u2019s fine with me. I don\u2019t worry about if you\u2019re going to lose this part of your audience. I\u2019ve always had a feeling about the position we play culturally, and I\u2019m still deeply committed to that idea of the band. The blowback is just part of it. I\u2019m ready for all that.\u201d<\/p>\n
