The cuts come just a month after <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/06\/13\/scale-ai-confirms-significant-investment-from-meta-says-ceo-alexandr-wang-is-leaving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meta hired Scale AI\u2019s CEO<\/a> in a $14.3 billion deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a memo obtained by Bloomberg, interim CEO Jason Droege told staff that Scale AI had too quickly scaled its core data-labeling business \u2014 in which the startup supplied AI labs with labeled, structured data to train AI models. Droege said in the memo that Scale AI would staff up around its enterprise and government sales units.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like other AI startups that have been reverse acqui-hired, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/11\/26\/inflection-ceo-says-its-done-competing-to-make-next-generation-ai-models\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">such as Inflection<\/a>, it seems that Scale AI now has to pivot from the business that put it on the map.
