Hanya Yanagihara is making quite a few moves. The author of A Little Life is leaving<\/a> T magazine, where she\u2019s currently editor-in-chief, to \u201cpursue opportunity in theater.\u201d She is also, we noticed, trying to sell her Soho one-bedroom.<\/p>\n

Yanagihara is asking<\/a> $2.2 million for her place at 95 Greene Street, a six-story cast-iron\u00a0condo. In virtually staged listing photos, the floorboards are black and polished, the walls are white, and, in lieu of a wall dividing the bedroom from the living and dining, there are custom double-sided bookshelves just shy of the roughly 13-foot ceiling. When The Guardian stopped<\/a> by for a house tour in 2017, Yanagihara had filled the apartment with her collection of more than 12,000 titles alphabetized by author. (\u201cAnyone who arranges their books by color doesn\u2019t truly care what\u2019s in the books,\u201d she told the outlet.) The palette was also warmer: A\u00a0pink wall was covered with art, and\u00a0sculptures and antiques Yanagihara had picked up during her various travels also added interest.<\/p>\n

One thing the apartment has going for it today, even in the sanitized and staged photos: a cedar-lined bathroom, which has been outfitted with a soaking tub and separate shower.<\/p>\n

The current listing price is an 8 percent drop from the initial asking in February but still about\u00a0double the $1.069 million Yanagihara paid back in 2009. She may be hoping to move it since she paid<\/a> $3.2 million in late 2023 for an 11th-floor, 4,000-square-foot co-op in a converted factory in Nomad.<\/p>\n
