{"id":68518,"date":"2025-07-17T00:32:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T00:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/68518\/"},"modified":"2025-07-17T00:32:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T00:32:14","slug":"carlos-alcaraz-told-what-he-still-has-got-to-figure-out-ahead-of-the-us-open-after-his-wimbledon-final-defeat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/68518\/","title":{"rendered":"Carlos Alcaraz told what he still has &#8216;got to figure out&#8217; ahead of the US Open after his Wimbledon final defeat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Carlos Alcaraz\u2019s road to redemption begins now after losing the 2025 Wimbledon final to Jannik Sinner.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Spaniard<\/a> was second-best for the majority of the four-set contest, losing 6-4 4-6 4-6 4-6 to the world number one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sinner<\/a> was able to neutralise Alcaraz\u2019s high-energy game, while capitalising on a poor serving performance from the five-time Grand Slam champion.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian has now won three of the last four majors, and came within one point of <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/jannik-sinner-was-one-point-away-from-doing-something-only-novak-djokovic-and-rod-laver-have-achieved-in-the-open-era\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">holding all four Grand Slams at once<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz, never one to shy away from a fight on the tennis court, will surely return to the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a> with a vengeance in mind, and one journalist has pointed to what Alcaraz must \u2018figure out\u2019 at the tournament.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2224310322-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Italy's Jannik Sinner shakes hands with Spain's Carlos Alcaraz after winning their men's singles final tennis match on the fourteenth day of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, southwest London, on July 13, 2025.\" class=\"wp-image-314375\" \/>Photo by GLYN KIRK\/AFP via Getty ImagesDavid Law says Alcaraz must \u2018figure out\u2019 US Open struggles<\/p>\n<p>David Law, who provides much of the BBC\u2019s Wimbledon commentary, said that Alcaraz has \u2018a lot of proving to do\u2019 during the American hard court swing.<\/p>\n<p>After winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the 2022 US Open, Alcaraz has struggled at the tournament. In 2023 he lost in the semi-finals to Daniil Medvedev, and in 2024 he was shocked by Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets in the second round.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/6Th6EZFHIXdKmeK6O2nmo7?si=n2rO3evzRdmueGpXJ69Wew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The Tennis Podcast<\/a>, Law said: \u201cI think that Alcaraz has got a lot of proving to do in this swing coming up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s looked the last two years\u2026 in 2023 he lost to Medvedev and in 2024 he lost to van de Zandschulp. He just didn\u2019t look right in either of those matches really. It wasn\u2019t like \u2018worldy\u2019 performances knocked him out. N<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeither one of them had as good a record at the US Open as they had elsewhere. It\u2019s tough, it\u2019s really tough to just keep on going.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo how you make sure that Alcaraz comes into that fresh\u2026 I don\u2019t really have any doubts over Sinner, he doesn\u2019t seem to have these let downs.
