The rural internet project is almost complete, according to Ron Hook, Western District Commissioner of Buchanan County.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hook, the commissioners met to discuss all potential projects related to the American Rescue Plan Act, with hooking up all parts of the county to modern-day fiber being felt as a priority.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everybody pays taxes, and so the more taxpayers you affect by doing this, I think, shines a light on what the county is looking at, and that is, you know, what? What does the county, the people of this county want?&#8221; said Hook. &#8220;What do they need? What can we do as county commissioners to appease them that way, so we&#8217;re looking for things all the time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hook said that most of the rural communities in Buchanan County are now connected, and only a few small dead spots remain. As this plan winds down, they are also considering continuing other strong projects, such as the Buchanan County Fairgrounds Project and the Lake Contrary Revitalization.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"(BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo.)
