Earlier this month, star cornerback Cooper DeJean was named the Philadelphia Eagles\u2019 most underpaid<\/a> player by Brad Gagnon of Blecher Report.<\/p>\n

Now, let\u2019s look at the other side of that coin.<\/p>\n

A.J. Brown named Eagles’ most overpaid player<\/p>\n

Gagnon recently released a list<\/a> of every NFL teams\u2019 most overpaid player, and for the Eagles<\/a>, that distinction went to mercurial star wide receiver A.J. Brown.<\/p>\n

Brown has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in each of his four seasons in Philadelphia, but declining production combined with a huge contract and some distracting behavior has led Brown to being overpaid, at least in the eyes of Gagnon.<\/p>\n

\u201cJordan Davis is certainly overpaid based on his position and production, but that contract is friendly in the short term and he has room to grow. So instead we’re calling out Brown, who signed a three-year, $96 million extension two years ago and has not matched his earlier peak production since,\u201d Gagnon wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe barely reached 1,000 yards in 2025 and has a top-10 AAV and cap hit entering 2026. Throw in the tension surrounding his situation within the organization, and this is a no-brainer.\u201d<\/p>\n

What the future holds for Brown in Philadelphia remains the largest looming question facing the Eagles this offseason.\u00a0There has been rampant speculation that the Eagles could trade Brown, but so far no deal has come to fruition, and it remains to be seen if one will.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have made it clear that they aren’t desperate to trade Brown, and would only do so if it benefitted the franchise. With an open championship window, it seems like keeping Brown around might be the best route for Philly, at least for one more season.<\/p>\n
