What do they look like?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/dodgers\/story\/2026-03-02\/clayton-kershaw-perfect-ending-dodgers-one-final-chapter\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Clayton Kershaw<\/a>\u2019s 2025 teammates had already received their <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/dodgers\/story\/2025-11-01\/dodgers-world-series-2025-path-blue-jays\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Series<\/a> rings in a pregame ceremony Friday at Dodger Stadium when the future Hall of Famer jogged out of the dugout wearing his No. 22 Dodgers jersey. <\/p>\n<p>He took the ball from manager <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/dodgers\/story\/2026-03-22\/two-time-defending-champion-dodgers-goal-is-simple\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Roberts<\/a> on the mound and delivered the ceremonial first pitch. He\u2019s joining the front office as a special assistant, according to a person with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers\u2019 ring ceremony was the second part of a two-day celebration of the team\u2019s <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/dodgers\/story\/2025-11-01\/dodgers-defeat-toronto-blue-jays-game-7-comeback\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2025 World Series title<\/a>. On opening day, the Dodgers brought out their trophies from back-to-back World Series titles and raised their new championship banner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited,\u201d Kershaw said a couple hours earlier, after watching the Dodgers take batting practice before facing the Arizona Diamondbacks. \u201cIt\u2019s why we play, is to win some of these rings. They include engravings of the 2024 and 2025 trophies on both the outside and inside of the ring.<\/p>\n<p>The L.A. logo is made up of 17 custom-cut blue sapphires, one for every postseason game the Dodgers played last year.<\/p>\n<p>On the underside side of the ring, the four playoff series are listed, along with \u201c11.01.25,\u201d the date of <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/dodgers\/story\/2025-11-01\/dodgers-defeat-toronto-blue-jays-game-7-comeback\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Game 7 of the World Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The ring top holds dirt collected from home plate during Game 7, visible through a glass window when the ring is opened. Inside the ring sits a bespoke band that\u2019s also set with sapphires and a diamond.<\/p>\n<p>In a nod to the fan base, the total attendance figure for the 2025 season (4,012,470) gleams in blue on the bottom of the ring. Each players\u2019 ring is also personalized with his signature, last name and number.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnytime you get to celebrate one more time with your teammates, it\u2019s pretty special,\u201d Kershaw said. \u201cI know they\u2019ve got to move on to this season, but I don\u2019t have to. So I\u2019m just going to keep relishing it. It\u2019ll be great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kershaw was already in town for work. I love baseball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His new role with the Dodgers, <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7153009\/2026\/03\/27\/clayton-kershaw-dodgers-special-assistant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">first reported<\/a> by the Athletic, is another form of talking baseball.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProbably not physically here in L.A.,\u201d Kershaw said. \u201cBut definitely, I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll watch games. He said he doesn\u2019t miss playing, but he misses the people. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a freedom with retirement,\u201d Kershaw said. \u201cIf you don\u2019t want to work out, you don\u2019t have to. If your back hurts, it doesn\u2019t matter. If your arm hurts, it doesn\u2019t matter. You get to see a lot more stuff, be around for everything. So there\u2019s a lot of great parts.
