State forestry officials say the current drought is the worst in nearly a decade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\"><b>[DOWNLOAD: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/smart-tv\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a><b>]<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Near Pine Log Mountain in Bartow County, on Friday, state forest rangers rolled out a bulldozer because they needed to.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re experiencing one of the worst droughts in north Georgia that we\u2019ve had in almost a decade,\u201d said Seth Hawkins with the Georgia Forestry Commission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\"><b>Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz<\/b> said the drought combined with low humidity and gusty winds combine to create a high fire danger Saturday. A red flag fire warning has been issued. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\"><b>Channel 2 Action News <\/b>followed a crew responsible for protecting 450,000 acres of woods across Bartow, Cherokee, and North Fulton counties, all of which are now at risk of burning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Statewide, 5,000 acres have already burned over the last five days. Officials say there have been more than 350 wildfires.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Humidity is low, winds are high and there has been little to no rain for weeks, a recipe for disaster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\"><b>TRENDING STORIES:<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The message to North Georgia residents is simple: don\u2019t burn leaves, don\u2019t fire up the fire pit, and don\u2019t flick cigarettes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The Forestry Commission has even stopped its own prescribed burns, which are typically used to help control wildfires.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Bulldozers are being used to dig firebreaks, and brush trucks each carry 500 gallons of water, resources crews may need every drop of unless help comes from above.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cYou praying for rain?\u201d <b>Channel 2\u2019s Berndt Petersen <\/b>asked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cPraying for rain. Of course.
