City Council member Carlos Flores, whose district includes the Hardy Street portion of the improvements, said the work is sorely needed.<\/p>\n
\u201cHardy Street is one of our older streets and needs attention,\u201d Flores said during the meeting, adding that the improvements represent \u201ca step toward making the area more livable and pedestrian-friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hardy Street is ready for construction, with work expected to begin in late March or early April and last about 90 days, weather permitting. Crews will install sidewalks, ramps, and driveway approaches in phases to minimize disruptions. The work won\u2019t require any street closures, officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, right-of-way acquisition for the Cleckler Avenue portion of the project is still underway. Work will move forward once that process is complete.<\/p>\n
During construction, residents can expect temporary impacts such as driveway work, equipment staging, and limited landscaping removal. However, city staff said the city will try to maintain property access during construction and restore affected areas afterward.<\/p>\n
The project is funded through the city\u2019s 2022 bond program and is part of a broader initiative to modernize infrastructure and improve walkability across Fort Worth neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel comfortable in my home,\u201d Franco told city officials. \u201cI want to stay here. And I\u2019m glad that we\u2019re going to upgrade the neighborhood. Thank you for doing that. It\u2019s an old neighborhood. It\u2019s well overdue.\u201d<\/p>\n
