PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Near-record heat will stick around through Monday, but a gradual cooldown is on the way late next week.<\/p>\n
Temperatures have climbed to 96 degrees Saturday afternoon, breaking the previous record of 95 degrees set in 2015.<\/p>\n
Expect more very warm weather Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 90s. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms could develop, mainly over the higher terrain south and east of Phoenix. If storms do form, gusty outflow winds may push into the Phoenix metro area by Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
Monday will be mostly sunny with highs again in the upper 90s. A slight chance of isolated showers and storms remains over the higher elevations of eastern Arizona.<\/p>\n
By Tuesday, a mix of sun and clouds will bring temperatures down into the mid-90s, followed by highs near 89 degrees on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
While still above the normal high of 82 degrees for April 1, it will feel noticeably cooler than the recent record-breaking heat. Isolated showers and storms will remain possible in the higher terrain Tuesday into Wednesday, but the Valley should stay dry.<\/p>\n
Temperatures are expected to hold in the upper 80s to low 90s from Thursday through Saturday.<\/p>\n
