{"id":689405,"date":"2026-03-29T04:31:18","date_gmt":"2026-03-29T04:31:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/689405\/"},"modified":"2026-03-29T04:31:18","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T04:31:18","slug":"for-first-time-league-of-women-voters-of-hawai%ca%bbi-county-co-sponsors-no-dictators-protest-in-hilo-big-island-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/689405\/","title":{"rendered":"For first time, League of Women Voters of Hawai\u02bbi County co-sponsors No Dictators Protest in Hilo : Big Island Now"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>East Hawai\u02bbi residents will come together with millions of others throughout the country Saturday, March 28, for a nationwide day of action, and for the first time the local effort is co-sponsored by League of Women Voters of Hawai\u02bbi County.<\/p>\n<p>The No Dictators Protest is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Hilo Bayfront Park, on the makai side of the road, starting in the vicinity of the canoe clubs and extending toward Mo\u02bboheau Bandstand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.bigislandnow.com\/file\/bigislandnow\/2026\/03\/No-Kings-website-pic.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/No-Kings-website-pic-1024x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-429407\"\/><\/a>East Hawai\u02bbi residents and others around the Big Island will join thousands of others throughout the nation Saturday, March 28, 2026, for No Dictators Protests. (Courtesy Image: No Kings website<\/p>\n<p>East Hawai\u02bbi Indivisible and League of Women Voters invite people to attend this peaceful protest \u2014 one of more than 3,000 throughout the nation \u2014 to stand for the rule of law, against the Iran war and for dignity of all people.<\/p>\n<p>Indivisible is a nonpartisan pro-democracy movement, like the storied League of Women Voters, so its endorsement is a natural fit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a nonpartisan organization working to defend democracy, the League of Women Voters of Hawai\u02bbi County is proud to partner with Indivisible both locally and nationally as we rise up together in this time of constitutional crisis and extreme threats to our voting rights and freedoms,\u201d said League of Women Voters of Hawai\u02bbi County president Shana Kukila in an announcement about the event.<\/p>\n<p><b>ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD<\/b><b>ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Expectations are high. The event is the third No Kings National Day of Nonviolent Action.<\/p>\n<p>Other partners for the events throughout the country include American Civil Liberties Union, American Federation of Teachers, Common Defense, 50501, Human Rights Campaign, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, National Nurses United, No Kings, Public Citizen, Service Employees International Union, among others.<\/p>\n<p>A full list of partners can be found at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nokings.org\/partners\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">No Kings website<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>East Hawai\u02bbi Indivisible is part of international grassroots movement Indivisible, created in 2017 and with more than 3,000 chapters in all 50 states and 10 foreign countries.<\/p>\n<p><b>ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The nonpartisan group \u2014 like its international parent organization \u2014 is dedicated to preserving American democracy through local action and informed civic engagement.
