\n\tIn what is hopefully a sign of the times for the box office to quote the Harry Styles song in Project Hail Mary<\/a>, non-franchise IP is excelling around the world with Amazon MGM Studios\u2019 posting an amazing $108.6M <\/strong>second frame for a running total of $300.8M<\/strong>. Not only is that the top grossing Amazon MGM Studios post merger, besting the $276M haul of 2023\u2019s Creed III, but it\u2019s also currently the top grossing MPA title of 2026 year-to-date. Remember, China\u2019s racing car movie, Pegasus 3 is the highest grossing movie year to date with $630.4M. <\/p>\n

\n\tBroken out the Ryan Gosling movie did $54.1M in 86 markets, a -5% hold, and another $54.5M domestic for weekend two. Running totals stateside is $164.3M domestic and $136.5M offshore. <\/p>\n

\n\tThat -5% offshore hold is a big deal when you comp it to such pic\u2019s as Interstellar (-21%), the Dune (-48%), The Martian (-41%) in like-for-likes. And what\u2019s even more unique, is that Project Hail Mary\u2018s offshore hold occurred on a non-holiday weekend. <\/p>\n

\n\tProject Hail Mary was No. 1 in 60+ markets including China, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and Japan.\u00a0Openings this weekend, which were all the best in each market for an MPA title included Spain with $2.3M at 648 screens (No. 1 remained Sony local comedy\u00a0Torrente Presidente\u00a0with $3.2M and a $24.5M running cume in weekend 3), India with $1.8M on 650 screens and Malaysia with $825K on 180 screens. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tImax contributed $20.3M WW to the Lord and Miller movie this weekend. Imax 70MM locations (15 in North America, 1 UK\u2019s BFI) have minted $4.3M alone. Broken out domestic was $10.1M stateside and $10.2M abroad for Imax. Global running cume in Imax is $59.6M ($33M North America, $26.5M offshore). <\/p>\n

\n\tDisney\/Pixar\u2019s Hoppers<\/a><\/strong> isn\u2019t far behind Project Hail Mary with a running worldwide cume of $297.6M<\/strong>, after a $37M<\/strong> global weekend ($12.2M domestic, $24.8M overseas). Broken out that\u2019s $138.6M<\/strong> stateside and $159M<\/strong> abroad. <\/p>\n

\n\tHoppers foreign weekend reps a -33% hold. Pic remains the No. 1 and or No. 2 non-local title in\u00a0<\/strong>France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK,\u00a0Japan, China, Korea, Brazil and Mexico. Pic bowed to No. 2 in Australia to $1.3M ($2M with previews), making it the highest grossing new IP animated opening for Disney\/Pixar since Zootopia (2016).\u00a0Pic was also opened at #2 in New Zealand, posting the 2nd\u00a0highest grossing new IP animated opening for Disney\/Pixar since Zootopia (2016). Australia and NZ were the only news territories. Hoppers is the highest grossing movie YTD across Latin America as well as France ($9.5M), Mexico ($13M), Switzerland, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. The pic is the top grossing Hollywood movie in Japan ($9M), Indonesia, Taiwan, and Vietnam YTD. China alone has minted $16.8M. <\/p>\n

\n\tPic opened in Portugal to No. 2 with $127K boosted by first spring sunshine after three months of harsh stormy weather. Lithuania bowed to $70K, No. 2 in the market on 16 screens, ahead of Colleen Hoover\u2019s Regretting You. Notable holdovers included Germany with $1.3M weekend, -20% and a $6.7M cume surpassing Regretting You, and already ahead of Materialists. The\u00a0UK & Ireland\u00a0enjoyed a strong hold in weekend 3 of $700K, -27% at No.5 in the market, with one of the best holds across all titles. Pic\u2019s $4.5M is in sync with\u00a0Materialists\u00a0at the same point.<\/p>\n

Paltry results in France ($598K), UK ($418K), Germany ($270K), Mexico ($218K), Italy ($215K), Spain ($198K), Brazil ($149K), Australia ($135K), Holland ($110K), Colombia ($92K), Poland ($91K), and Switzerland ($65K). <\/p>\n

Mexico was $400K, No. 4 opening, 1% ahead of Searchlight\u2019s The Menu. Pic bowed No. 3 non-local in Hong Kong and Singapore. Top territories are UK ($1.8M cume, -36% hold), Australia ($700K cume, Samara Weaving native land, -50% hold). Philippines with $500K was No. 2 opening and the best non-local opening year-to-date. Brazil\u2019s running cume is $400K, Malaysia is $400K, Colombia is $300K and Netherland is $300K. The movie hasn\u2019t released yet in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Korea and Japan. <\/p>\n
