\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to celebrate with my fellow community of Canadian musicians!\u201d she wrote on Instagram ahead of the ceremony. \u201cI\u2019m feeling so grateful (and nervous!).\u201d<\/p>\n
Over the weekend, the singer also wowed in a skin-tight, brown maxi dress as she teased her upcoming new single with a high-energy video featuring producer Boi-1da.<\/p>\n

This marks the first time since in two years that Furtado will drop new music. Her last album, 7, which was aptly her seventh studio album, was released back in 2024. <\/p>\n
The singer\u2019s fans are equally excited for her new music and return to the spotlight.<\/p>\n

When the online body-shaming attacks over her onstage outfits and body reached fever-pitch last year, Furtado subsequently made a pointed fashion statement while headlining Manchester Pride in August.<\/p>\n
She stepped on stage in an oversized optical illusion T-shirt with a cartoon hourglass body outline in a cinched up crop top, miniskirt and belt reading \u201cWhoa Nelly.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, just two months later, the singer was ready for a break from the spotlight.<\/p>\n
\u201c25 years later, my music has reached a whole new generation of fans and I couldn\u2019t be happier about that,\u201d she wrote via Instagram at the time. \u201cAll this aside, I have decided to step away from performance for the foreseeable future and pursue some other creative and personal endeavours that I feel would better suit this next phase of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI have enjoyed my career immensely, and I still love writing music as I have always seen it as a hobby I was lucky enough to make into a career,\u201d she continued, adding that she\u2019ll \u201cidentify as a songwriter forever\u201d.<\/p>\n
