(File photo courtesy of the Port of San Diego)<\/p>\n<p>A $5.5 million federal grant will contribute to berth repairs at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portofsandiego.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Port of San Diego<\/a>\u2018s National City Marine Terminal, it was announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The grant comes by way of the U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s Maritime Administration through its America\u2019s Marine Highway Program. The AMH program \u201csupports efforts to expand waterborne freight service across the U.S.,\u201d according to a port statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to our federal and regional partners for their continued support and investment in maritime infrastructure. The port\u2019s National City Marine Terminal is a vital resource to our region and beyond,\u201d said Danielle Moore, chair of the Board of Port Commissioners. <\/p>\n<p>The agency has allocated its $9.7 million local match \u2013 previously approved by the agency\u2019s board as part of its Economic Recovery Program in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The National City Marine Terminal handles cargo such as automobiles and breakbulk commodities. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The National City Marine Terminal.
