{"id":693897,"date":"2026-03-31T03:32:22","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T03:32:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/693897\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T03:32:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T03:32:22","slug":"sunday-class-meeting-schedule-adjustments-announced-church-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/693897\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunday class meeting schedule adjustments announced \u2013 Church News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced adjustments to the Sunday class meeting schedule. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe are confident that members will be blessed by these changes,\u201d the First Presidency wrote in a letter released Monday, March 30, 2026. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">For the first time since the 2019 adjustment to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/2018\/10\/6\/23221299\/president-nelson-announces-a-new-balance-between-gospel-instruction-in-the-home-and-in-the-church\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a two-hour block<\/a>, Sundays will look different. A five-minute transition period will be held in between each block.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Primary will meet for 55 minutes during the second hour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The announcement was made <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org\/multimedia\/file\/first-presidency-letter-sunday-meetings-2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">in a March 30 First Presidency letter<\/a> and in <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org\/article\/changes-sunday-meeting-schedule\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org\/article\/changes-sunday-meeting-schedule\">a news release on ChurchofJesusChrist.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The letter from the First Presidency explains that Sunday School and Primary classes will continue to study the scriptures using \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/come-follow-me?lang=eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Come, Follow Me \u2014 For Home and Church<\/a>.\u201d Elders quorums and Relief Societies will continue to study messages from the most recent general conference. Youth will use a new and expanded edition of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/manual\/for-the-strength-of-youth?lang=eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices<\/a>,\u201d with more information to come. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Quorums and classes will no longer counsel together about a specific topic prior to these lessons, and these second-hour meetings are to each begin and end with prayer, the letter states, which was signed by Church <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/leaders\/2025\/10\/14\/president-dallin-h-oaks-inside-life-faith-ministry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/leaders\/2025\/10\/14\/president-dallin-h-oaks-inside-life-faith-ministry\/\">President Dallin H. Oaks<\/a> and his counselors,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/2018\/2\/1\/23213471\/getting-to-know-president-henry-b-eyring-of-the-first-presidency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">President Henry B. Eyring<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/2008\/4\/19\/23231789\/elder-d-todd-christofferson-apostle-2008\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">President D. Johnson<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cGathering weekly in every class helps deepen gospel learning by connecting it more closely to personal and family study. It also enhances the spiritual support that members get. This weekly time for connection will help us draw closer to the Savior and each other. I find it helpful as a daily part of my scripture study.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Increasing faith and deep and lasting conversion<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In the October 2018 general conference, then-President Russell M. Nelson announced that the Church\u2019s Sunday meetings would change from three hours in length to two hours, with a rotation each week between Sunday School and classes for elders quorum, Relief Society, Young Women and Aaronic Priesthood quorums. That change took place in January 2019. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe long-standing objective of the Church is to assist all members to increase their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and in His Atonement, to assist them in making and keeping their covenants with God and to strengthen and seal their families,\u201d President Nelson said at the time. \u201cIn this complex world today, this is not easy. The adversary is increasing his attack on faith and on families at an exponential rate. To survive spiritually, we need counter-strategies and pro-active plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/2007\/10\/6\/23232563\/elder-quentin-l-cook-apostle-2007-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/2007\/10\/6\/23232563\/elder-quentin-l-cook-apostle-2007-2\">Elder Quentin L. Cook<\/a> of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/general-conference\/2018\/10\/deep-and-lasting-conversion-to-heavenly-father-and-the-lord-jesus-christ?lang=eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/general-conference\/2018\/10\/deep-and-lasting-conversion-to-heavenly-father-and-the-lord-jesus-christ?lang=eng\">the October 2018 general conference<\/a>: \u201cThe most important goal and ultimate blessing of deep and lasting conversion is worthily receiving the covenants and ordinances of the covenant pathway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The General Handbook explains that living the gospel of Jesus Christ includes learning and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ at home and at church (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/manual\/general-handbook\/1-work-of-salvation-and-exaltation?lang=eng&amp;id=p13#p13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">section 1.4.1<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/manual\/general-handbook\/1-work-of-salvation-and-exaltation?lang=eng&amp;id=p_ikQrU#p_ikQrU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Section 1.5<\/a> outlines the purpose of the Jesus Christ\u2019s Church, which is to make the blessings of eternal life available to all through sacred ordinances and covenants. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">To help accomplish this divine purpose, Jesus Christ \u2014 through His Church and its leaders \u2014 provides:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Priesthood authority and keys.<\/li>\n<li>Prophetic direction.<\/li>\n<li>Scriptures.<\/li>\n<li>Gospel learning and teaching support.<\/li>\n<li>Service and leadership opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>A community of Saints.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"A Young Women class meets together.\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.78;background-color:#F6F6F6;cursor:pointer\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/TW666ZUEYBEMTEIO7C46BPUPRM.jpeg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>A Young Women class meets together. | The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints <img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"A group of young men sits in a priesthood class in Ghana.
