who pitched for Canada during the World Baseball Classic &#8212; was making his first start for the Diamondbacks after <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/soroka-diamondbacks-contract-48d89f71603e208aa6ec354f5f7d17cf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signing a $7.5 million, one-year deal<\/a> during the offseason.<\/p>\n<p>Soroka was an All-Star for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/atl\/atlanta-braves\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Atlanta Braves<\/a> in 2019 before back-to-back Achilles injuries caused him to miss most of the 2020 season and all of 2021 and 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The other Diamondbacks pitchers to throw an immaculate inning were Randy Johnson (2001), Byung-Hyun Kim (2002) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31094\/wade-miley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wade Miley<\/a> (2012).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Mar 31, 2026, 12:17 AM ET PHOENIX &#8212;
