Maurene Comey, the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey<\/a>, was fired Wednesday from the powerful Manhattan US Attorney\u2019s Office \u2014 where she prosecuted Jeffrey Epstein, his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell and, most recently, Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs,\u201d sources told The Post.<\/p>\n

The reason for Comey\u2019s firing, which law enforcement and Department of Justice sources confirmed, was not immediately clear. She was informed that she was being axed under Article II of the Constitution, which describes the powers of the president, the sources added. <\/p>\n

President Trump has a long history of conflicts with the elder Comey and fired him as FBI director in 2017 during his first term.<\/p>\n

Maurene Comey, who served as an assistant US attorney in the Southern District of New York since 2015,\u00a0worked on the prosecutions of the disgraced financier pedophile Epstein and Maxwell, who was found guilty of multiple sex crimes at trial and sentenced to 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n

Comey most recently worked on the high-profile sex trafficking case against Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The nearly month-long trial ended in a jury acquitting the disgraced hip-hop mogul of the most serious charges against him \u2014 racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking \u2014 that could have landed him life in prison.<\/p>\n

Comey has worked several high profile cases, including the recent Diddy sex-trafficking trial and the Epstein\/Ghislaine Maxwell cases. REUTERS<\/p>\n

He was only found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Southern District of New York declined to comment Wednesday. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. News of Comey\u2019s firing was first reported by Politico.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis firing is an effort by the DOJ to distract from its failures on Epstein, the J6 pipe bomb, Butler assassination plot and ongoing whistleblower retaliation,\u201d former FBI agent-turned-whistleblower Steve Friend said<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cRemoving Maureen Comey six months into the administration is like a fire department hiring an arsonist and expecting applause when they fire him after he\u2019s already burned down a city block. Too little, too late.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are desperate for a win and distraction. The Comey-Brennan case is a distraction. They\u2019ll never get charged. It\u2019s a way for congressmen to have hearings,\u201d Friend added, referring to the FBI investigation of former CIA Director John Brennan and James Comey<\/a> for potential criminal conduct related to the 2016 Trump-Russia collusion probe.<\/p>\n

The Epstein firestorm was revived last week after the Justice Department and FBI concluded in a memo that the convicted pedophile, 66, killed himself in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 \u2014 and did not keep a list of wealthy and powerful \u201cclients\u201d to whom he trafficked underage teens.<\/p>\n

That conclusion sparked a storm of backlash from top MAGA personalities, who suspected that the Trump administration wasn\u2019t being fully upfront about Epstein, despite the 47th president\u2019s promise on the campaign trail to release the files on the convicted pedophile.<\/p>\n

Comey\u2019s ouster also follows renewed attacks from Trump\u2019s base, including conservative firebrand Laura Loomer, who publicly urged Attorney General Pam Bondi<\/a> to fire her and her husband, Assistant US Attorney in SDNY Lucas Issacharoff, back in May.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, the DOJ fired Maurene Comey from the United States Attorney\u2019s office for the Southern District of New York,\u201d Loomer\u00a0posted on X<\/a>\u00a0after the news broke.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis comes 2 months after my pressure campaign on Pam Bondi to fire Comey\u2019s daughter and Comey\u2019s son in law from the DOJ.\u201d<\/p>\n

Loomer has claimed Issacharoff, who has worked in SDNY\u2019s Civil Division since 2019, has \u201ca long history of being a Trump hater.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo word yet on whether or not he was also fired today, but he should be. +1 for Blondi today!\u201d Loomer cheered.<\/p>\n

Trump has since spent days dismissing Epstein\u2019s case as a \u201cbig hoax\u201d concocted by the Democrats for political gain \u2014 and blasting suspicious GOP members for being \u201cduped\u201d by their colleagues on the other side of the political aisle.<\/p>\n

The prez has also lashed out, pressing the country and news reporters to stop focusing on the notorious predator.<\/p>\n

The Trump administration is\u00a0investigating James Comey<\/a>\u00a0for potential criminal conduct during the FBI\u2019s Trump-Russia collusion probe in 2016.<\/p>\n
