JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 Step outside in Jacksonville, and you\u2019re likely to feel it immediately: the heat and humidity aren\u2019t going anywhere just yet. <\/p>\n

Temperatures are sitting around 80 degrees in Jacksonville and Brunswick, 79 degrees in St. Augustine, and 74 degrees in Waycross as the day gets underway. <\/p>\n

These warm, sticky conditions are expected to stick around with no big relief just yet.<\/p>\n

Hourly forecasts show those temperatures climbing into the low to upper 80s as the afternoon approaches.<\/p>\n

Light showers possible<\/b><\/p>\n

While it may feel muggy, it isn\u2019t all bad news: The Weather Authority reports little to no rain showing on the radar early in the day. <\/p>\n

Showers that do move through the Jacksonville area are expected to be very light and non-severe, mainly appearing between about 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. <\/p>\n

The forecast indicates that most rain activity is well to the west and more prominent in other parts of Florida.<\/p>\n

The coast is likely to remain clear, so those hoping to spend some time at the beach could find today an ideal opportunity.<\/p>\n

Weekend weather improvements<\/b><\/p>\n

There\u2019s some good news looking ahead: a high pressure system is expected to approach the region as the weekend begins. <\/p>\n

This system will likely help taper off the showers, bringing lower rain chances and more comfortable outdoor conditions as Saturday arrives.<\/p>\n
