Violence by extremist Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank has reached unprecedented levels since the start of the war with Iran, with NGOs and opposition figures denouncing an environment of impunity.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While so-called “Jewish terrorism” has drawn widespread condemnation both in Israel and abroad, little has been done to curb it.<\/p>\n
But the recent surge has prompted criticism from influential rabbis, settler leaders and even military chief Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, who described the attacks as “morally and ethically unacceptable”.<\/p>\n
According to Reem Cohen, a researcher at the Tel Aviv-based Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), “there has been an increase in acts of Jewish terrorism since the start of the war with Iran”, along with a rise in “the severity of the acts”.<\/p>\n
In an interview with AFP, Cohen, who authored a report on the issue in January, denounced the impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators.<\/p>\n
“The Israeli government and security forces… have not responded with determination,” Cohen wrote in his report.<\/p>\n

Israel’s military says air defences are responding to a fourth Iranian missile attack within six hours, as sirens sound in parts of northern Israel.<\/p>\n
A military statement said Israeli forces had “identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel”, adding that “defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat”.<\/p>\n

Oil prices climbed more than $4 on Thursday after President Donald Trump said the United States would continue to attack Iran, including energy and oil targets over the next few weeks, and did not commit to a specific timeline to end the war.<\/p>\n
Brent crude futures rose $4.88, or 4.8%, to $106.04 per barrel by 0200 GMT. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures were up $4.17, or 4.2%, to $104.29 per barrel.<\/p>\n
The gains come after both benchmarks had fallen more than $1 earlier on Thursday ahead of Trump\u2019s speech and had settled lower in the previous session.<\/p>\n

Israel’s military said air defences responded to three waves of Iranian missile fire early Thursday, with media reporting several light injuries in the Tel Aviv area.<\/p>\n
The third reported salvo came shortly after US President Donald Trump delivered an address to the American public about the Middle East war.<\/p>\n
After the first attack, police said officers were called to \u201cseveral\u201d impact sites in central Israel, with media reports putting the number at nine.<\/p>\n
Four people were lightly wounded, the reports said, citing medics.<\/p>\n
Within just over three hours of the first attack, the military announced it had again \u201cidentified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel\u201d, triggering air raid sirens across much of northern and central Israel.<\/p>\n
