Good morning, Chicago.<\/p>\n

The Senate is expected to try quickly passing a measure today<\/a> that would fund most of the Department of Homeland Security, though it\u2019s unclear how soon the House will follow to largely end the longest partial government shutdown in history.<\/p>\n

House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune announced<\/a> a plan yesterday to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security as part of a two-step process. The agreement puts the leaders on the same page for ending the impasse after they pursued separate plans that resulted in Congress leaving Washington last week without a fix.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump said U.S. forces will \u201cfinish the job\u201d in Iran soon as \u201ccore strategic objectives are nearing completion,\u201d offering a full-throated defense of the war last night in his first national address since the conflict began more than a month ago.<\/p>\n

Eric Johnson began his day of work transporting four coolers of strawberries from St. Charles, Missouri, to Fayetteville, Arkansas, in a small Honda hatchback.<\/p>\n

He wouldn\u2019t finish the drive.<\/p>\n

The coolers \u2014 given to him by a subsidiary of well-known Illinois dairy company Prairie Farms Dairy Inc. \u2014 contained dry ice. Court documents claim that no one informed Johnson of the dangers of the substance, which is the solid form of carbon dioxide. He was found unconscious at the wheel an hour and a half after beginning his Aug. 5, 2016, drive and died in the hospital a few days later.<\/p>\n

\nChicago Bears brass looking for quick movement on a new stadium to open by 2030<\/a><\/p>\n

Chicago Bears leaders said yesterday they want a quick resolution to their search for a new stadium, with a goal of opening a new enclosed stadium by 2030 \u2014 either in Arlington Heights or Indiana.<\/p>\n

Team President and CEO Kevin Warren put a rough timeline on plans to build a new enclosed stadium, hoping to choose a site by this spring or summer, he told reporters at the NFL owners meeting in Phoenix yesterday.<\/p>\n
