Musicians from around the world will travel to San Antonio to participate in a tribute to accordion legend Flaco Jim\u00e9nez at the 44th Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival, May 14-17.<\/p>\n

Demonstrating the late South Texas icon\u2019s international influence as an ambassador of conjunto music, artists from Mexico, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan and beyond will take part in the memorial. Jim\u00e9nez, who died July 31, 2025, at age 86, is one of the heavyweights of the genre and is known for collaborating with musicians as diverse as the Rolling Stones, Emmylou Harris and Peter Gabriel.<\/p>\n

Grammy Award\u2013winning ensemble Los Texmaniacs will kick off the evening, joined by groups representing the global conjunto community. Additional artists performing in the tribute will include Flaco\u2019s brother, Santiago Jim\u00e9nez Jr., along with Dwayne Verheyden (Netherlands), Honorio Imamura (Japan), Antonio Tanguma Jr. (Monterrey, Mexico), Miguel Perez (Spain), Linda Escobar, Arturo Jim\u00e9nez\u00a0and\u00a0Gil Jim\u00e9nez.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this is one of the best and most diverse, nationally and internationally, musical lineups we\u2019ve had at the TCF in a long time. I\u2019m excited,\u201d festival founder Juan Tejeda said. \u201cNo other tribute to Flaco has brought together as many international artists to honor him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tribute will take place at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Rosedale Park and will be hosted by Tejeda and Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center Executive Director Cristina Ball\u00ed, both of whom also curated the program. <\/p>\n

In addition to Sunday\u2019s Flaco tribute, the three-day program will offer performances by more than 40 artists on its international and intergenerational roster.<\/p>\n

The Tejano Conjunto Festival is the longest-running conjunto festival in the world, celebrating a musical tradition rooted in San Antonio\u2019s West Side with artists from across the globe.<\/p>\n

Tickets are available at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts website<\/a>. Three-day weekend passes cost $50. Single-day passes are available at following rates: Friday $20, Saturday $25 and Sunday $15. Children 12 and under are free.<\/p>\n

Attendees are encouraged to bring cash for on-site purchases. Coolers aren\u2019t allowed into festival grounds but lawn chairs are permitted.<\/p>\n
