Email us<\/a>.<\/p>\n Front page flashback:<\/strong> April 4, 1996<\/p>\n 1996:<\/strong> \u201cUnabomber\u201d Theodore Kaczynski,<\/a> a Chicago-area native, was arrested<\/a> at his remote Montana cabin.<\/p>\n 5 things you might not know about Chicago native Ted Kaczynski \u2014 the \u2018Unabomber\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n Weather records <\/strong>(from the National Weather Service, Chicago<\/a>)<\/p>\n High temperature: 81 degrees<\/strong> (1956)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Low temperature: 17 degrees<\/strong> (1987)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Precipitation: 0.93 inches<\/strong> (1974)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Snowfall: 2.7 inches<\/strong> (1984)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Vintage Chicago Tribune: 100 years of mayoral inauguration speeches from William Dever through Brandon Johnson<\/a><\/p>\n 1923:<\/strong> Wiliam \u201cDecent\u201d Dever<\/a> \u2014 a \u201cwet\u201d Democrat \u2014 was elected mayor on the reform ticket, in an attempt to clean up the rampant vice in Chicago.<\/p>\n Dever was voted out<\/a> four years later.<\/p>\n But his name remains imprinted on a water crib<\/a> in Lake Michigan.<\/p>\n 1973:<\/strong> Motorola executive Martin Cooper<\/a> made the very first cellphone call. And though it took place in New York City, its guts and inspiration were all Chicago.<\/p>\n 1998:<\/strong> \u201cLet \u2019em hear you in heaven.\u201d<\/a> Dutchie Caray \u2014 the widow of Cubs TV play-by-play announcer Harry Caray \u2014 led the seventh-inning stretch during opening day at Wrigley Field. Organist Gary Pressey launched into \u201cAmazing Grace\u201d<\/a> as balloons were released from the bleachers in Caray\u2019s honor.<\/p>\n 2007:<\/strong> Shortly after lunchtime, a\u00a0docile coyote<\/a>\u00a0nonchalantly wandered through the propped-open door of a Quiznos submarine sandwich shop at 37 E. Adams St. in downtown Chicago and plopped down in front of the soda cooler.<\/p>\n Officials picked up the year-old male about an hour after it entered the restaurant.
