Second body recovered from Phoenix-area canal within a week<\/p>\n

Firefighters said a body was recovered from a Phoenix-area canal \u2014 the second such incident within a week.<\/p>\n

Phoenix Fire was dispatched around 5:45 p.m. on April 3 to Third Avenue and Hazelwood Street for a report of a body in the water, where firefighters found an unconscious adult who was not breathing, department spokesperson Capt. Todd Keller said in an email.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately the patient was beyond resuscitation,” Keller said in his email.<\/p>\n

Phoenix police took over the investigation from there, Keller added.<\/p>\n

Police did not immediately respond as to whether foul play was suspected.<\/p>\n

Elliah Schurz<\/a>, 28, was found dead in a Scottsdale canal\u00a0March 28<\/a> after having been reported missing six days earlier from the Salt River-Pima Maricopa Indian Community.<\/p>\n
