An 88-year-old man who was run down by a hit-and-run driver in the South Park East neighborhood, east of the Harbor (110) Freeway, was identified by county authorities Saturday.<\/p>\n
Onesimo Maldonado Flores was identified as the victim by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
The fatal crash was reported at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Avalon Boulevard and 49th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.<\/p>\n
A vehicle described as a possibly black sedan headed north on Avalon hit Maldonado as he walked in a marked crosswalk on the north side of East 49th Street, the LAPD said.<\/p>\n
The motorist did not stop.<\/p>\n
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took Maldonado to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
