As Los Angeles County officials Saturday continue efforts to reduce homelessness, 45 people were moved indoors during an encampment operation in the unincorporated Willowbrook neighborhood.<\/p>\n
The two-day Pathway Home operation, conducted Wednesday and Thursday, relocated individuals experiencing homelessness into interim housing, where they will receive supportive services aimed at transitioning them into permanent housing, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Homeless Services and Housing.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery person brought indoors through L.A. County\u2019s Pathway Home initiative represents a life moving toward stability and opportunity \u2014 and reflects months of outreach to build trust and secure the resources needed to make encampment resolutions like this one possible in our unincorporated Willowbrook community,\u201d Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly Mitchell said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must continue working urgently until every resident has a safe place to call home,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
County officials said the effort involved coordination among multiple agencies, including the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, the Sheriff\u2019s Department\u2019s Homeless Outreach Services Team and nonprofit providers such as HOPICS and PATH, which will continue working with participants at interim housing sites.<\/p>\n
\u201cCollaboration is key to solving homelessness, and this Pathway Home operation in Willowbrook shows exactly what that looks like in practice,\u201d said Sarah Mahin, director of the county Department of Homeless Services and Housing. \u201cThanks to the tireless efforts of our county staff and many community partners, 45 L.A. County residents are safely inside and on a pathway home.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Willowbrook effort marks the county\u2019s 75th Pathway Home operation since the program launched in August 2023. Officials said nearly 2,100 people have been moved off the streets through the program, with more than 600 placed into permanent housing.<\/p>\n
